Access data / Server log files

The provider (respectively its hosting provider) collects data each time the service is accessed (so-called server log files). This access data includes: The name of the website requested, filename, date and time of access, amount of data transmitted, report on successful access, browser type and version, operating system of the user, referrer URL (the previously visited website), IP address, and the requesting provider.
The provider uses these protocol data solely for statistical evaluation for purposes of operating, securing, and optimising the service. The provider reserves the right to retroactively review these protocol data, if concrete evidence warrants suspicion of illegal use.

Contacting the provider

When contacting the provider (for example using a contact form or email), the data provided by the user are stored for purposes of processing the inquiry and in cases follow-up questions arise. Beyond that, your data might be transmitted to verification services (e.g. sponsors with legally required terms of storage), as well as to service providers (logistics businesses, hotels, etc.). No further information is collected. Your data is solely used for purposes of sending the newsletter and not transmitted to third parties. When signing up for our newsletter, we will store your IP address as well as the date of your signup. This storage is used solely for purposes of verification in case someone misappropriates an email address and signs up for receiving our newsletter without the knowledge of the person so entitled.
Your consent for storing this data, the email address, as well as its use for sending the newsletter, can be withdrawn at any point. This revocation can occur using a link within the newsletter itself, in your profile area, or by sending a message to the contact information provided above.

Implementation of third-party services and content

We may, as part of this online service, implement third-party content, for example YouTube videos, Google Maps map materials, RSS feeds, or graphics provided by other websites. In each case, this necessitates the providers of such content (in the following „third-party providers“) knowing the user‘s IP address. Without an IP address, they are unable to send the content in question to the respective user‘s browser. The IP address is thus necessary for displaying such content. We attempt to use only content, where the respective provider uses the IP address for the sole purpose of transmitting the content. However, we have no influence on whether third-party providers use the IP address for other, e.g. statistical, purposes. In case this is known, we provide the user with this information.

Cookies

Cookies are small files enabling the storage of device-related information on the device (PC, smartphone, etc.) used to access the service. On the one hand, they serve the purpose of enhancing website usability and thus serve the user (e.g. by saving login data). On the other hand, they are used for collecting statistical data on website usage, and analysing them for purposes of improving the service. Users can influence where and when cookies are used. Most browsers provide an option restricting or completely disabling the storage of cookies. However, we have to point out that using the service, and especially the comfort of using the service, may be restricted without the use of cookies.
Many cookies used for online advertising by corporations can be administered via the US-American website http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the EU website http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/.

You can also register via postal mail or fax at any time.

Piwik

This service uses Piwik, an open source software for statistical evaluation of user access. Piwik uses so-called „Cookies“, text files, which are stored on your computer and which enable an analysis of the use of the website by users. The information generated by cookies on your use of this website is stored on the provider‘s server in Germany. The IP address is immediately anonymised once it is processed and before it is stored. Users can prevent installing these cookies by using the appropriate settings of their browser software; however, the provider informs the user, that in such a case not all website functions may be fully available.

Using Facebook Social Plugins

This service uses Social Plugins („Plugins“) of the social network facebook.com, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA („Facebook“). The plugins can be recognised by one of the Facebook logos (white „f“ on a blue tile or a „Thumbs up“-sign) or are marked with „Facebook Social Plugin“. A list of and the appearance of Facebook Social Plugins is displayed here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.
In case a user accesses a website of this service, which contains such a plugin, a direct connection will be established between the user‘s browser and the Facebook server. The content of the plugin is passed by Facebook directly to the user‘s browser and integrated into the website. The provider thus has no influence on which data is collected by Facebook using this plugin, and thus informs the user according to its current knowledge: By embedding the plugin, Facebook is provided with information of a user accessing the respective page of the service. In case the user is logged in to Facebook, Facebook can connect this access to the Facebook account. If users interact with the plugin, for example by clicking the Like button or submitting a comment, the respective information is transmitted by the browser to Facebook directly and stored there. If a user is not a Facebook member, Facebook may still discover the user‘s IP address and store it. According to Facebook, in Germany only anonymised IP addresses are stored.
The purpose and scope of data collection, as well as the further processing and use of data by Facebook, as well as the rights and settings for securing the user‘s privacy in this respect, can be found in these Facebook privacy notices: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
If a user is a Facebook member and unwilling to let Facebook collect data in conjunction with this service and connect it to the member data stored by Facebook, the user has to log out of Facebook before visiting the internet service.

Google +1 buttons

This service uses the „+1“ button of the Google Plus social network, operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 („Google“). The button can be recognised by a „+1“ sign on a white or colorful background.
In case a user accesses a website of this service, which contains such a button, a direct connection will be established between the user‘s browser and Google‘s servers. The content of the „+1“ button is passed by Google directly to the user‘s browser and integrated into the website. The provider thus has no influence on which data is collected by Google using this button. According to Google, there is no personal data collected before clicking the button. Only for logged-in members, such data, including the IP address, are collected and processed.
The purpose and scope of data collection, as well as the further processing and use of data by Google, as well as the rights and settings for securing the user‘s privacy in this respect, can be found in the Google privacy notices regarding the „+1“ button: http://www.google.com/intl/de/+/policy/+1button.html as well as the FAQ: http://www.google.com/intl/de/+1/button/.

They can be recognised by terms like „Twitter“ and „Follow“, combined with a stilised blue bird. Using such buttons, the user may share a contribution or page of this service on Twitter or follow the provider on Twitter directly.
In case a user accesses a website of this service, which contains such a button, a direct connection will be established between your browser and Twitter‘s servers. The content of the Twitter buttons is passed by Twitter directly to the user‘s browser and integrated into the website. The provider thus has no influence on which data is collected by Twitter using this button, and thus informs the user according to its current knowledge. According to this, only the IP address of the user, and the URL of the respective website is transmitted, but not used for other purposes as displaying the button. Further information can be found in the privacy policy of Twitter at http://twitter.com/privacy.
