The ewoca summer 2017 has come!

The ewoca summer 2017 has come!

The time has come: On Monday, the 3rd of July, youths from Weimar (Germany) and Dunaewa (Belarus) travel to Tolo on the Peloponnese peninsula. Together with young people from Greece, they committed to developing concepts for sustainable and social economics in rural areas. The workcamp in Greece is the first of a total of 14 European youth encounters, taking place this summer, thanks to the funding programmes ewoca³ and ewoca Young Perspectives.

This summer, more than 300 youths from 18 European countries are active at the ewoca workcamps. Youth groups from nine cities in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as from Brandenburg, Thuringia, and Schleswig-Holstein take part.

After the commencement in Greece, the beginning of the summer break in North Rhine-Westphalia coincides with the start of another camp 2500 kilometres further north. From the 15th of July, young people from Oberhausen (Germany), Tigru Mures (Romania), and Tartu (Estonia) meet on the Estonian island of Hiiumaa, in order to cooperatively help with the preparations and implementation of a local folk festival. Other projects aim at creating organic fields in Spain or repairing hiking paths in Scotland. The workcamp in the Lithuanian Kaunas, where youths from Germany, Italy, and Lithuania, together with professional coaches in music, dance, theater and media art, develop a performance on the topics of discrimination and racism, will close the summer in September.

And off we go! We wish all those active in ewoca success and great experiences!
