On Wednesday, the 29th of June 2016, Hildegard Azimi-Boedecker, section manager for Job international and Migration at the International Association for Education and Exchange, will speak at the Day of Practice and Research at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences North Rhine-Westphalia in Münster. Together with Wolfram Buttschardt of Diakonie Michaelshoven in Cologne, she will give impulses for the workshop „Networks at the Interface of Disability and Migration“, moderated by Prof. Dr. Sabine Schäper of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences.
The Day of Practice and Research gives a framework to the dialogue between academic and occupational sphere. The main topic of 2016 is: „Migration society Germany – Responses of social practice close to a topic both old and new“. A total of twelve workshops deal with centrally important topics. Practice coordinator Prof. Dr. Sabine Schäpter of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences North Rhine-Westphalia in Münster recruited the International Association for Education and Exchange (IBB e.V.) in Dortmund to participate.
In their shared workshop, the speaker give an overview over types of disability and dealing with disabilities of migrants and refugees. They believe cultural sensibility to be an important access opportunity for these groups and instituted such projects with their organisations. Following this, the state of networking of professionals in the fields of disability and migration, and the structure of opportunities open to disabled refugees are critically explored. Five guiding questions and demands for practice and politics start the topic’s discussion.
IBB realised networking projects and transcultural further education for professional in cultural sensibility with both migrants and refugees with disabilities and psychological disorders. Diakonie Michaelshoven is active in practical projects for refugees and integration, and, since November 2015, supervises a new networking and support project for refugees. Wolfram Buttschardt presented this project at the networking congress Inklud:Mi in Dortmund, on the 3rd of May 2016.
