The project DoKuMente qualifies Dortmunders to become intercultural mentors. The qualification imparts a feeling of security in supporting the newly migrated and connects those interested and institutions within the city looking for supporters. The two one-year further qualification programmes in 2016 and 2017, feature both block courses and evening courses. They cover the topics of sociology of migration and psychosocial aspects of voluntary migration and flight, and health issues, as well as background information regarding religion, areas of origin and legal issues concerning right of residence. Participation in the DoKuMente project is free of charge and not age-restricted. However, those interested should be able to offer a minimum of two hours each week for volunteer work.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
